Interventions to improve the condition of the environment, and dependent users, are necessary to try and secure a sustainable future for East Africa’s coastal zone. Management actions are a form of intervention, but so are daily decisions that resource users must make. Project outcomes target some action to be taken based on their research/activities and outputs, and this may be across a broad landscape from the local scale of community interventions through private sector engagement to national and regional actions.
Given that CORDIO is a research organization, projects generally seek actions through trying to influence those with the power to make interventions, and this may be towards the middle or end of a project, or even after a project has ended. Entries in this section may contain actions long after a project has ended, or that CORDIO is involved in through a collaboration or involvement, rather than direct funding through a project.
