These before/after image composites show views of the Tiwi-Waa reef area during sand harvesting operations, compared to a ‘control’ date in January before operations began. On the left are residual sediment plumes (some hours after the vessel has left) before mitigation actions were introduced, and resulted in the public outcry that stopped the activity. On the right are residual sediment plumes after mitigation actions were introduced. The improvement and benefits of mitigation are clear.
